Replacing return faceplates

Has anyone ever changed their return jet faceplates, I have a few that are starting to crack/fade and want to replace them before they start leaking. I worked for a pool company last year as a jr service tech but never had to do it on a old liner and am scared it will shift! I could easily do it but I’m just worried the liner will shift even tho the liner was installed 2.5 years ago but was made in 2019/2020 so it might have lost some elasticity

Simple, after you remove a screw, place a plug in it the same size as the opening of the new faceplate. I always keep 4 pieces of dowel in my truck for this. Then put new faceplate over the plugs, remove one at a time and insert the screw.
