We used the WD-40 trick to get the cracked collar off our Polaris 280 back up valve and ordered a replacement.
I lubed the O-ring and then the inside threads on the collar. I lined up the "notch" with the plastic "tab" and pushed the pieces together.
But when I try to screw on the new collar, it doesn't go on for more than a thread, maybe two.
Not sure if it is a strength thing? I tried disassembling and putting the collar on without the top, same problem. The old collar piece screws on without a problem, but it's only the lower part of the collar.
What do you recommend to get the replacement collar to thread onto the body of the backup valve?
