Hello everyone, this my first post since joining. I'm fairly new to pools as just purchased my first home with a pool at the end of last year.

My pad currently has a Pentair SuperFlo SS 1.5HP pump which is whining like crazy so although it still works it is definitely asking for replacement and I honestly feel bad for my neighbors every time I have to run my pool pump overnight.

My research so far has led me to the Pentair Intelliflo3 VSF 1.5HP w/IO board (011066) as I currently have no automation but would like to have some basic automation capabilities. My plumbing looks runs 2" for main drain and 1-1/2" for skimmer and vac port and my filter is a Pentair Clean & Clear 100. I plan to add a heat pump and salt chlorinator in the future.

I've been calling local dealers to see if they can source the pump but have had no luck thus far. Not sure if the 1.5HP models are out of stock from Pentair or if they just quit making them. I would much rather get the 1.5HP vs the 3.0HP which appears to have better availability, as I don't really need thw extra power and even if I run it at lower speeds, it would still consume more electricity as far as I understand from the pump efficiency charts provided by Pentair.

Does any know what is going on with the 1.5HP Intelliflo3 models? Am I going in the right direction or would you recommend something else?

Thank you in advance for any input.

Welcome to the forum.
Get the Intelliflo3 - 011075. That is the 3 hp model. You will be able to run the pump at lower rpm for the same water flow, which will be quieter and use less electricity.

You may want to add the I/O board for the pump so you can control any other items you may add later.
