I have an old Hayward super 2 pump with a broken marathon 2 hp dual speed motor that has a 56J frame. I found a A.O. Smith BN61 motor that looks like it would work fine, except it has a X45Y frame. Is there any way to fit a X45Y frame to a 56J compatible pump?

Welcome to TFP.

56J frames are common in pool pumps.

I cannot find any information about a X45Y frame. Can you post its motor data plate?

I doubt a X45Y frame, whatever size it is, will fit a 56J wet end.

That won't mount to your pump.

That is a "Thru-Bolt" motor with Four Thru Bolts on a 5.146 Bolt Circle for an above ground pump.

You need 56J as shown in the bottom pictures.

What is the pump model number?

Can you show the motor label?

Do you need a specific flow?

Do you have a heater?

How old is the pump?

You can get a single speed with a smaller impeller if you do not need a lot of flow.

You can get a variable speed motor if you want.

That BN61 motor WILL NOT fit your Super 2. It is a through-bolt motor with a 48 frame, smaller diameter than the 56 frame. It is made for above ground pumps. Its a tiny motor. You need a C-Frame, threaded shaft, motor, either 48 or 56 frame, they both fit, in the appropriate horsepower.

Thanks for the responses. I thought it would not work. I was hoping someone knew of an adapter plate for this purpose. Oh well, looks like I'll buy the $500 56J instead of the $238 48Y.
You can install a Nidec Neptune NPTT 225 variable-speed motor with a Go Kit 3 and your existing pump will become a VSP for less than $600.00 - $800.00 (depending on where you get the motor). This motor matches your existing impeller. Plenty of instructions on that motor and pump on YouTube.
