My incandescent bulb is dead. I figured I might as well change it with a programmable LED. But the more I look around, the more "weirdness" I find... people complaining about bulbs burning up, prices that are from $50 to over $500, some have electronic "boxes"... I have no idea what I need! I thought I could get a bulb that screws in and then control it with an app.

Color-changing LED replacement bulbs are usually 1) expensive, 2)not particularly long lasting 3)usually controlled by turning a switch on and off until the color or program you want shows up.
Amazon has some that are very inexpensive and remote controlled, but who knows how long they will last.
Be sure to replace the gasket with a silicone one.
