Hello everyone. I recently purchased a house with a 25,000 gallon Pool with a Spa incorporated with the spillover feature. The heater that came with the pool was a Laars Jandy LT400N with 399,000BTU output. Its been broken for about 10 years. I was looking to replace it with the Hayward W3H400FDN since it the same BTU output as what was originally installed. I was looking to see if this makes sense. Also what other heaters I should look at? Thanks

Consider the Jandy JXI400N and you may be able to use the RS-485 Smart Connection if you have Rev N or higher on your Aqualink.

Most any heater should work, really. I'm a fan of my Raypak 400k BTU unit. Honestly, the RS-485 connection matters far, far less with a heater than, say, a VS pump. Plus, you can actually buy parts for a Raypak. Jandy won't sell you anything if you're a DIY'r, and they certainly will NOT sell you the heater.

That's actually the same heater the previous owners of my house had and removed. Installed the Raypak a couple of months after we moved in and I've been very pleased with it.

For clarity, the 399,000 is the input rating. The output is about 84% of that.

Thanks the clarity.

Ok. Happy to hear its working for you. I'll probably end up going with that one.
