I have had this pool for almost two years, I typically just clean the cartridges, but this time I replaced them. After turning the breakers back on, I've realized the easytouch won't turn on the pumps anymore. Upon inspecting I noticed the wire in the pictures was almost all the way pulled out. So I opened the pump controller top to re attach it. I assume this is the comm wire. I can't figured out how that cable detached by me opening the filter, because I never touched it, and it all worked before replacing cartridges. The pump controller shows 0 rpms, If I push the 1-4 it works, but not at the easy touch. I have re tripped the breakers multiple times at the pump. I hit the reset button once and still same issue. Is there something else I can try? It is strange that the cable came disconnected, and now just doesn't work at all. I have a salt cell and that seems to be ok, though it says I need more salt. The booster pump that runs the waterfall still works at the easytouch. Any ideas?

Coincidence. You may have bumped the cable. It is the communication cable for the Easy Touch. Without it in place the pump goes into "stand alone" mode. Just replace it and be sure the collar is turned to the right to lock in place. There is a "keyway" so it will only go in correctly.

Thanks for replying, I will attempt to re attach the comm cable. I couldn't get the ring around it to tighten, i'll double check that. Can I ask you if it matter what the schedule is set to? I typically cant hit ET button 4 and the high speed pump would turn on regardless of the set schedule. Also, when I ran the diagnostic test, it says error code 4, which I read is a button error, could this all be connected?

Ok, I confirmed it's connected as far as I can get it to go, the lock ring won't tighten around the connection. Is that common, or what does it mean that it wont fasten? Also, with it connected the pump shows 0rpms. Is there a way to test if the cable is bad? It was just working last week.

Pics attached.

I was thinking that could be the problem, but I can even fit my foot in there because it's so tight between the plumbing. We did have monsoon winds and I wonder if that caused it too. It does plug in and there's no water damage, no not sure how nit would just be defective, unless they regularly go bad. There areonly 2 pins on the male side of that cable, and the female has four slots to recieve pins. Not sure if that means something or is typical.

The cable has 2 data wires & 2 power wires. The pump has power of its own so does not need the 2 power wires.

Your signature says "clean and clear pump" which is wrong. "Clean & Clear" refers to the filter only. Which exact pump do you have? Looks like an Intelliflo from the photo.

Yea I will fix that! I have the pump I the pump in this picture and in the ET settings it's set VS. It does show no comm in settings pump status. Can you tell me common name to this pump I have? I don't see vs or vf on this label.

I can't determine if this is Intelliflo,vs or vsf, or superflo. Part number is 356928.B

All I can find are other model numbers. And, it doesnt say on any documentation I have.

I have a post on here about my ET not communicating, and started wondering which pump I have, to make sure the setting are correct in the ET. I reconnected the comm cable after finding it wasn't plugged in all the way. Still doesn't work, screen logic lets me turn lights on
and the booster pump on and off. It can't control the primary pump, just like the ET. So i'm trying to find information on my exact pump, but searching the internet I couldn't find the model name. I will post a picture of the other sticker on there tomorrow. I am considering
replacing the comm wire, but was hoping there might be something else I could try first.

Ok I have figured it out and updated my signature to Intelliflo 2 VST. Can anyone offer any ways to test the connection between the Intelliflo and the ET? I am about to spend 80 bucks on a single cable to see if it resolves the issue and it may not be the problem.

Adam,

With the system in AUTO and Pool, go out and look at your pump's display and tell me what it shows..

It should show "Display Not Active", which means the pump is being controlled by the EasyTouch.

If your pump shows "Display not active", then you need to make sure your pump Type is set to VS or VST.

The pump will not run unless it knows what speed to run. See what speed is assigned to the Pool Circuit.

And finally, the pump will not normally run unless there is a schedule telling the pump to run..

Tell me what you find..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim,

This is crazy to me. I haven't had an issue with the ET in almost two years owning it. I replaced the filter cartridges and all the sudden the ET stopped controlling the pump. The comm cable was lose, so I reattached it and for three days it didn't resolve the issue, but today I went out and it was showing
display not active. And, when I touched the 4 button for high speed pump it turned on. I do not know what changed all the sudden over night or how it just started working again. I have a feeling it will mess up again, unless this is common after reconnecting a comm cable.
I am not sure this system was set up properly to begin with. A couple of that valves are structured in a way that puzzles me, but I am a novice. Also, I can figure out how to set the lights to one color "blue" it always cycles to other colors.
And, only three of my jets open and work ever, the rest are seemingly stuck or not getting enough pressure. I just set up the screen logic for the first time, and i'm finding very useful, for what it lets me do anyway.

Thanks for replying.

Adam,

When the display shows "Display not active" the pump's control panel should not work.

To use the pump's control panel, you need to be in the Service mode.

So I don't fully understand what is happening.

It could mean you just have an intermittent connection somewhere. Did you make sure there is no corrosion inside the connector for the pump cable. We have seen a couple of times where the pins were almost completely corroded away.

What do you mean "Touched the 4 button??" Are you talking about on the pump or on the EasyTouch panel??

Are the jets that are not working in your Spa?? If so, more than likely they are plugged. You have to remove all of the jets and then run the spa mode to push all the debris out into the spa. Then put the jets back in.

Show us some pics of your system..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim,

What was happening is I couldn't use the ET, because of the no comm error. I had to use the pump controller, but now its working again so i'm good on that so far.

There is no debris on the connection, and it is working again like before, i'm just not sure how all the sudden its working again.

The jet issue is that I have 10 or so jets in the pool and only 3 of them open ever. I purchased a metal tool you put on the
end of the pole and it broke when I tried to turn the jets, as if they're stuck. So with only three jets that ever open I am wondering if they're
all just stuck or if my valves could be adjusted to make more flow occur. I have attached pics.

The #4 botton on the ET is my high speed pump button. I am wondering if there is a way to get more out of this set up, or if I am running correctly day to day.

Also, I can figure out how to make the light stay blue only, and stop cycling colors.

Adam,

When you are talking about your 'jets' not working, I assume you mean that your In Floor Cleaning System (IFSC) is not working. I know nothing about an IFCS, but we have a few folks here that do.. I would either get the IFCS fixed, or abandon it, and use something else to clean the pool. I assume your pool does not have standard wall returns and that all your water goes back to the pool through the IFCS heads in the pool floor. Is that correct??

Let's see of @proavia can help with some ideas on your IFCS..

There is nothing wrong with using an aux button to control the speed of your VS pump, but it does use up one of your Aux relays.. A better way is to use Feature Circuits.. Feature Circuit do not have relays and their main job is to change pump speeds and move valves.

Show me what speeds your ScreenLogic systems have now... This is mine...

The slowest speed you ever want to run is one that keeps your cell's flow switch closed.. For me this about 1200 RPM. You have a heater and an IFCS so I would 'assume' that your normal speed is much higher than that..

What are the two devices that I see in the water next to your skimmer by the steps..???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim,

Yes I guess it is the IFCS the "jets" im referring to. Only 3 out of ten work.

I can confirm that I do have intermittent communication to the pump and Et, because now it is back to no comm, and the screenlogic can't communicate again, what would cause this?

I cannot send pump speed at the moment, because the screen logic can't comm w pump again. I do remember there is 3200 or so high speed and like 1800 for low speed, then it says spillway rpms.
The spillway is always running at any speed the pump is on. Not sure If I can actually prevent that, or I just dont understand what spillway means.

The floating device is chlorine tab floater that has a solar powered battery and it turns on at night. The device that's connected to the wall is called "Pool Skim" it allows my return to act
as a skimmer, so my skimmer can be utilized for the pool vacuum. I do not have enough salt in the pool, and I plan to drain and refill by next summer, so I don't want to add more salt.
I do have a salt cell though, and I don't use the heater.

The "booster" pump button controls a second pump that has a valve that goes between the waterfall and the return that the PoolSkim is connected to and varies the power they each have.
