Removing filter head to deep clean sand

I'd like to deep clean our sand filter following the instructional videos I found on here.
There is a warning about making sure the filter is isolated from the pool plumbing. I just want to be sure I understand... if I turn off the pump and turn the multiport to the close setting before removing the collar of the multiport, is that the proper procedure so water won't go through?

Thankfully, I have flexible tubing on mine so I don't need to cut any pipes.

No, that is not what the article is referring to. By "isolating the filter", we mean shutting or closing off any valves before the pump and after the filter essentially isolating the filter from the pool so that pool water can't keep flowing to the pad.
