We are having our pool remodeled by a local well respected pool contractor. We were zeroing in on going to plaster, when the contractor advised us the new gunite did not bond to the old gunite/shockcrete and there were many hollow areas under/in the newe gunite.
About 3 inches of gunite was removed today and the contractor after walking the pool feels confident, the problem has been resolved. However, to reshoot gunite rerquires about 6 inches of gunite be removed.
The PM mentioned using a slurry of some sort to replace the removed gunite.
What is this product called and can someone explain it to me. I understand it consists of 2 or 3 coats.

Welcome to TFP.

It is not clear what you are doing with your pool renovation.

You need to ask your contractor for more details on the products being used.

Rebar rods epoxied into old gunite can be used to structurally connect old gunite with new.

Show us pictures or engineering drawings of what is being done.
