Thanks everybody! Here are some pics after one day of brushing and running the pump constantly. It's also cloudy out today, so I'm getting to see it in different lighting conditions.
















I'll keep taking shots every day for at least a couple of weeks, just so I can go back and see any changes during the curing process.

Okay I cannot remember if you have a test kit yet so goes. Look in my siggy for the test kit we use and love. This will keep your pool clear and plaster happy for many years to come.

Thanks, Kim! Thankfully I had bought the kit already...I got the XL because I knew I'd be testing a LOT for a while and practicing the tests as well. I also got the Speedstir, which is beyond awesome! I'm reading through Pool School, taking advantage of my "hands off" time as my PB is handling all of it right now. He's going to have an orientation with me on Monday, and I think then he's turning it over to me to follow his instructions and he'll just check in periodically.

Oh, and I'm sure I'll have questions as this moves along!
 
Great job having the test kit already!

I found that having a small notebook book to write down my test results in helped me learn my pool and it's needs. I made note of weather and such to help me predict what might happen on any given day.

Just wanted to post another quick update. Got the waterfall up and going (although there's still one stubborn plastic spacer in there I need to get out)! The water is clearing up more and more (and I thought it was clear before!), and here is how it looks today:













Forgot to mention the hand rail was installed to. My PB came out yesterday and put it in, tested the water (he liked the TF-100 a lot!), added some chlorine and acid, did the morning brush of my pool for me, and gave me an orientation and went over the rules for the next month or so. And collected final payment. He's really happy and proud of how everything came out and he's excited to get the pictures up on his website. I'd be proud too, if I was him!

At least the spacer is not messing up the flow from the waterfall. Does it sound pretty?

Look at the sparkle on the plaster and in the water! Funny how you just think it is clear until it looks like a jewel!

Good catch! That first photo is pretty overexposed. The sun was out full blast and it came out much lighter than it is. The most accurate picture there is probably photo #3. I'll never get the true depth of color you can get from this because the deepest part of my pool is only five feet, but instead I get to see the finish more clearly all the time!

Thanks! I got the spacer out, so now it's running perfectly. I love the sound of it. If I crank it up full blast, it's loud enough to drown out the sound of the neighbors' dogs!

Well, I think this will probably be the last update I post to this thread. It hasn't quite been a month yet, but there hasn't been any dust from brushing since the first week, and the final color appears to be set. All of the chemistry is in good shape, and I've found a good rhythm/schedule for adding chlorine and acid (a LOT of acid). Another couple of weeks and I'll be adding salt and starting up the SWG...and I'll be able to use the robot again!

Thanks to everybody for their comments throughout this reno/remodel. I hope y'all enjoyed it! Here's my favorite picture so far I think...now I just need it to be warm enough to swim!

Not sure of prices in your area but we purchased our tile on our own. We have 80 lineal feet of step markers which will need 14 sq ft of tile, cost $250 for the tile. Our PB had us buy the tile and is only going to charge us labor to install. Not nearly as expensive as I originally thought.
