Hi! I posted roughly a week ago that I was frustrated with our pool. Been adding 1 gal liquid chlorine everyday (as recommended) until I received my test kit. Received the TF100 kit and tested.

Results:
FC 5
CC 1
TC 6 (I believe that’s right, add the FC and CC together, correct?)
pH 7.2
TA 70
Hardness 200
Stabilizer 40
Salt 4400 😬

We still have some cloudiness and brown algae (poofs away when brushing, so thinking mustard algae?).

Any suggestions/recommendations?

I was planning to vacuum to waste this evening, and will likely need to add more water. Anything else I should/need to do so I can get my family swimming?

Thanks!!!

Looks good. Go swimming.

Do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test tonight. Raise your FC to 8 ppm or so this evening and run the test.
I didn’t think it was ok to swim in mustard algae? Or I guess while treating for it…. At what chlorine level is it not safe to swim? My youngest is 2 years old if that makes any difference.

Doubtful you have mustard algae. And no issue, it will do you no harm.

You can safely swim in a pool as long as the FC is above the minimum and at or below SLAM level based on your CYA. You must also be able to see the bottom of the pool in the deep end of the pool.

With a CYA of 40, your minimum FC is 3 ppm and your SLAM level FC is 16 ppm.

Yes and it's meaningless. Disregard this entirely going forward. 2+3 = 5 and 5+0 = 5 tell two entirely different stories. That the answer is 5 means bupkiss.

Also skip the comparator block chlorine test for now and exclusively use the fas/dpd powder for FC.

Continue to use 10ml for FC. 25ml wastes 2.5X the supplies for no gain.
