I recently bought a heater, I did see it has the Propane Tab broken off. However I am planning on using it for NG how would I go about changing it back to NG any suggestions, or is this equipment prepared to run on both NG and Propane?

You need to install NG orifices and a NG gas valve.

With the tab broken off you may not always get a reliable start since the board will only try to start once instead of three times.

would you suggest to also purchase a new board? that doesn't have the propane tab or once I SWITCH the NG orifices and NG gas valve would that be enough for the board to recognize that is NG and try and restart 3 times as opposed to one? Thank you for your response, in addition I have been searching online do you know a website to get the NG gas Valve and Orifice from?

What model number heater do you have? Get the correct kit for your model.

Raypak Conversion Kit Propane to NG 206 266 Mv 010419F

Search on raypak 266 010419F and you will find a bunch of sites selling it.

You will need a new gas valve (about $200 - $250), not a conversion kit (those are for millivolt heaters only), all new gas orifices (+/- $6.00 each), and a new pilot burner assembly (+/- $65.00, they have the NG orifice installed in them). If you can live with it, you can use the same board, but it will lock-out on ignition failure after one try requiring a power-down reset.
