My raised spa is loosing approx 1” per day and is returning back to the pool via the plumbing. PB has replaced two manual valves with check valves, replaced the diverter valve and a leak test completed on the plumbing but no leaks were found. The spa is covered by a wooden roll-up insulated cover when not in use.

Any suggestions on other things to check would be greatly appreciated.

Glen,

Please tell me if your Spa spills over into the pool?

And if the spillover runs all the time you are in the Pool mode, or do you control the spillover using the automation?

Tell me if your original pic is with the Equipment in the Pool mode or Spa mode. Then show me a pic of the opposite mode.. I need to see a pic of the Pool mode and then a pic of the Spa mode.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hi Jim. Yes spa spills over into pool when I activate it with automation. ( I don’t activate it that often). When that occurs the two diverter valves rotate 90 degrees to open the spa and close the pool returns. The pix enclosed is while in pool mode.

Glen,

90% of the time, when spas drain down when the pump is off, it is due to a bad check valve in the spa return line.. That is what the check valve is for..

On your return side, there is a check valve with two manual valves below it. That is the check valve that is normally bad. But... because you are using the automation's spillway function, your Return valve has the spa line shut off...

This would mean both your check valve and the automated Return valve are both bad.. Unlikely, but as a test, shut off both manual valves below the check valve and then see if the spa still drains down over night...

I re-read your initial post... and realized I am assuming the problem happens when the pump is off.. Is this true, or not???

Which diverter valve did your pool builder replace? The Intake valve or the Return valve??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks Jim. I appreciate your expertise.

PB replaced the return diverter valve. I will have to do more diagnostics to determine if it only occurs overnight when the pump is off. PB also replaced the two manual valves with check valves on the intake side.
