Raccoon problem visiting your pool (dispatch)

Fortunately, they weren’t pooping in the pool best I can tell. They would leave a bit of dirt on the steps and their footprints could be seen around that area. Since I started covering the steps, I haven’t seen the added dirt and footprints.
I sure hope what I saw in the shallow end wasn't Raccoon poop! No seeds, no tracks. I could not scoop it up it fell apart. But, it kinda looked like poop😟.

Raccoon taking a quick dip & no evidence of poop: https://ring.com/share/15ec71be-a131-49c8-a1e5-cad90ab94e4a New camera, bad placement that night.

Glad I found this post and I'm definitely going to get a cover over the tanning ledge like some people have done.

Will foxes and ringtail cats also only go into the shallow end or will they jump into deep water? I catch them on my doorbell camera and assume they'll be in the pool soon.

If you have a wooden fence or post anywhere near by, buy a can of sardines in cottonseed oil. Nail it to a post or tree with a GALVANIZED nail. The oil leaks out and a chemical reaction happens between the oil and the galvanize that is toxic to raccoons. They love the oil and will come lick it all up and wander off with a full belly. They won’t return. We used this trick to keep them out of our sweet corn patch.

Not sure about foxes and ringtail cats. But, this might sound gross to some but some people have reported success by spraying human male urine around the perimeter of their property. Coyote urine might attract coyotes I heard, so there is that! You ever wonder if those automatic pool cleaners ever vacuum up the feces and the owners are never the wiser?

Does it have to be cottonseed oil? An it be 100% olive oil?
