Looking to purchase a new 400k natural gas heater for our new-to-us house. (Existing heater was apparently wrecked during the big Texas freeze).

The pool equipment is a little closer than I'd like to the pool/seating area. Noise level is a concern. I'm considering a Raypak Digital, Jandy Jxi, Hayward H400 or Pentair Mastertemp 400.

Leaning towards the Raypak due to current availability and generally good reputation, but was curious if any of the others were significantly quieter?

At previous houses I've had both an H400 and a Mastertemp 400. The H400 was quieter than the Mastertemp but it was an older model; I've seen reviews stating the newer H400s are much louder. (Both had what I felt were too many quality/reliability issues, which is also driving me towards the Raypak).

You should get the Raypak. Any heater that uses an inducer motor for forced-air combustion is going to be a lot louder than a simple burner-tray/convection heater. The only thing that would make a Raypak louder would be if there was an active vent stack installed (essentially a blower fan on the vent to prevent flame roll out).

You want the Raypak 206A-406A heater, not their new AVIA heater for the reasons Joyful stated.
