Quick Help Please Removing Booster Pump

The pool guy is here to install the new pump and filter. They are bigger than what’s currently here. We aren’t using the booster pump anymore. What is the best thing to do? I’ve read a few threads, but I’m confused.

You can either tie together the booster pump input pipe and the output pipe with some PVC and make it another return on your pool.

Or you can cap off both pipes.

I cannot guess where the red arrow input pipe gets its water from or I might suggest you disconnect it at that point.

Red gets its water from the "return" pipe, underground, likely 18" down. Always hate a pool plumbed this way. Connect red to green, remove booster, and done.

I eliminated the inlet line underground from the main return line, then plumbed the return into my main filter return with a valve. This allows me to run just a small portion of water through the underground piping to the pool via the old Polaris outlet.

Had I to do it again, I'd probably just cap it all underground. I'm not sure worrying about the stagnant water in the cleaner line at the pool is worth worrying about.

I just left my booster in place when I bought a robot. I also saved the old Polaris pressure side cleaner. I'm glad I did. I sold the house last summer and was able to provide the new owner with the Polaris while bringing the robot to my new house.

That is what we needed up doing. I saved the booster pump just in case. Thank you!
