Quick comment on PoolMath update

Hi. Any plans to allow text size settings within the app itself? I don’t like having the rest of my iPhone in tiny text to get the two column layout.

It appears that the home/overview screen no longer displays recommended or ideal ranges for each of the tests? i liked having display on the main screen rather than having to look at each test result to see what the recommend/ideal. I hope you will consider adding it back. Thanks!

Getting closer to addressing some bugs and updating/reverting some of the previous design. As you can see in this preview we’ve continued to build upon some of the feedback from the group and hopefully we’ll be left with an improved product in the end. If all goes well here in the next few days this build will go to Beta users and then off to Apple for review…….

It may be helpful to alert folks to the Greenwich Mean Time issue if they had logged in with Google instead of using a direct password. It may be two different issues, but logging off and on may confuse if you previously logged on with Google. I posted about this today (before reading this entire thread): GMT and Google sign in

Over the past few days, we have dedicated several hours to improving and updating the PoolMath app. We are excited about these enhancements and believe they will significantly improve your experience. While we typically don’t open our testing phase to the public, we are seeking some additional assistance to ensure everything runs smoothly.

We would like to invite a select group of users to participate in the beta testing for the latest iOS update. Your feedback will be invaluable in helping us identify any issues and make further improvements before the official release.

If you are interested in joining our beta test (iOS or Android), please reach out to me directly. Your support and insights are greatly appreciated.

Today we have successfully upgraded PoolMath and submitted it to Apple for review. Once we navigate through all of Apple’s and Google’s review processes, we will begin gradually rolling out the update to our users.

This new update is substantial, incorporating nearly 150 code changes from the previous version. These enhancements cover a wide range of improvements and new features designed to elevate your PoolMath experience. I am so blessed to have @redth working on this project. Many in the group may not see this individual, but he is the main driving force behind the app. His knowledge and vision for the future are amazing, and I cannot speak highly enough about him. Some of the key updates include:

  • User Interface Improvements: We’ve made significant adjustments in font sizes, colors, and icons to enhance readability and overall aesthetics. One of my favorite new features launched is the implementation of a “custom font size” option, which was based on a suggestion by michelle22 in this post. This allows users to personalize their viewing experience, making it easier to read and interact with the app according to their preferences.
  • New Features: Introduction of new functionalities such as methods to include even more details in the target warning alerts, which are returning. These alerts will now provide you with information to help you better manage your pool’s chemistry and ensure optimal conditions. Additionally, we’ve made updates to the app that are going to be seen more in the near future. These updates are designed to improve the upcoming web browser version of PoolMath, which is yet to be launched for public use. This means that while you’re experiencing a better app now, you can also look forward to an enhanced web experience soon.
  • Stability Enhancements: We've also dedicated significant effort to fixing various issues that were causing the app to crash or record inaccurate results. These items are often tricky to pinpoint before the App is launched as they often only affect certain devices or operating systems. At the end of the day it is our hope that these fixes greatly improve the app's reliability and performance.

Given the extensive nature of this update, compiling a comprehensive change log is a bit challenging. However, I will do my best to provide a detailed list of changes shortly to keep you informed about all the new and improved features.

Thank you for your patience and continued support as we strive to provide you with the best tool possible. We look forward to your feedback once the update is live!

Nice work everyone! I really like the summary at the top showing what is out of range. Showing recommended ranges on the home screen without having to click on each one is also fantastic! Looks good so far.

Thank you, I’m glad these changes are a step in the right direction. 👍

I agree, it was nice to see it on the home screen rather than have to click into each one to see recommended ranges.
The timeline also lost dates/times on the main timeline screen. I have to check each entry and can’t compare it to dates/times of others without having to back out and open the next or the previous to evaluate what happened before, or what the results were later. It’s a loss of function and feature which is not the norm for app updates.

I submitted a suggestion to the beta project tracker for this.

Using the latest PoolMath iOS update I noticed that the effects of adding 78% Cal-Hypo is not correct. I can scroll through the other % Cal-Hypo options and other than defaulting back to 1 oz each time the effect of adding is shown. Just not 78%.

Just checked & Mine is like this also - running iOS 17.5.1

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It appears that the issue with 78% Cal-Hypo is specific to the “Effects of Adding” section and not the main advice part of the app. The necessary calculations for this specific concentration haven’t been incorporated yet, and will address it in an upcoming update.
