Quick comment on PoolMath update

Thank you for your feedback on the PoolMath app update. We understand that adjusting to new interfaces can take time, and we’re here to help you navigate these changes.

Regarding your concern about entering Cyanuric Acid (CYA) and its integration when calculating Free Chlorine (FC) additions, please note that this process hasn’t changed with the update. To ensure that CYA is consistently factored in:

1. Logging Full Test Results: Make sure to enter a complete set of test results, including CYA, in your logs. This will keep the relevant fields updated. To log your test results, follow these steps:
• Open the app and tap on the ‘+’ icon at the bottom of the Overview page.
• Select “Log Test Results.”
• Enter your test values, including CYA, and then tap the checkmark at the top right corner to save the data.
2. Using Preset Data for FC Adjustments: When you log a complete set of test results, the app automatically uses these values for subsequent calculations, such as determining the amount of chlorine needed based on your CYA levels.

Additionally, we recommend visiting the App Store to check for the latest update, which should address the rounding issue you’ve encountered with chlorine additions.

This week the app stores enabled Automatic Updates for PoolMath rolling out the update to all users. This is the same version that was released last month to users whom manually updated from the App Store, it’s just now being automatically updated users devices following the expiration of the 30 day “pause” that was put on before. I’d like to take a few seconds to update all on a few items we may see shortly plus a peak into the future.

As we move into the new framework of PoolMath we’ve noticed an uptick of users whom have “lost their data” when opening the App. We’re looking for the cause of this however users can restore their data in a few ways. Most of the time a simple logout/log back in helps sync the data once again however in extreme instances deleting the App and reinstalling takes care of the issue. We’re looking into this more however to get the user up and running asap logging out will address the issue most the time.

Next is the hiccup that’s been around for years, the issue of subscriptions not updating as expected. In this update we attempted again to improve this however it’s clear things still aren’t 100% perfect. We’ve kinda hit a point where we’re looking into hiring some outside assistance to improve this as we too are tired of letting the end user down.

In the meantime simply clicking the “Restore Subscription” will check the App stores and update your subscription. Clicking Restore will not double charge you so there’s no need to worry about that. If this fails please feel free to email us at [email protected] and we’ll be glad to assist further.

Lastly, we have some exciting progress to share. As we move forward with this update, we're thrilled to announce the upcoming Beta launch of a web version of PoolMath.

In the near future, we plan to make this new platform available for users to explore on their computers. However, we're not launching it just yet as we address a few finial issues. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this development phase.
Can I link the web version to my iPhone app version? I have the subscription.

Hi @Leebo, new feedback I just noticed. When adding mule 20 in the recommended amount from the Borate screen, user can tap "add suggested amount" and this saves borax addition to timeline based on the suggested value of borax, BUT it appears not to save the addition of MA that is also suggested right below. User would have to back out and then manually add this to appear in timeline.. Most would probably assume that adding suggested value would add both borax and MA and not realize MA is not being added to timeline. Suggestion to have it add both, or add a second button to tap to add the MA in suggested amount. Worst case, just state that adding suggested refers to borax only and not MA? Tia

Either I don't fully understand how the app works, or there is a bug in how it calculates either recommended adds, effects of adding, or both.

Here is an example (taken from my logs):

My last pH reading was 7.9. My target is set at 7.6. I need to lower my pH by 0.3. My pool is 6,750 gallons.

Poolmath (both Android app and Web version) recommend adding 4.8 oz of 31.45% muriatic acid.

When I go to Effects of Adding, and enter in 4.8oz of MA, it says it will lower pH by 0.2. I need to go to 7-8 oz to have it tell me that it will lower pH by 0.3.

As the pH number gets higher, the discrepancy between the two numbers is much larger.

Am I missing something? I would expect the two values to be identical.

In the log view it uses the current TA value. In effects of adding it does not.

Just curious why this matters? Does the amount of pH drop for a given amount of MA increase as the pH gets higher? If so, then why have the Effects of Adding if it's not accurate? If it really is just a different calculation, then the Effects of Adding should simply allow me to enter in my current pH, and then do the same calculation as log view so that they match.

Just noticed this - not sure when this update occurred but it’s great 👍🏻
& i usually hate the notifications lol 😂
