This week the app stores enabled Automatic Updates for PoolMath rolling out the update to all users. This is the same version that was released last month to users whom manually updated from the App Store, it’s just now being automatically updated users devices following the expiration of the 30 day “pause” that was put on before. I’d like to take a few seconds to update all on a few items we may see shortly plus a peak into the future.

As we move into the new framework of PoolMath we’ve noticed an uptick of users whom have “lost their data” when opening the App. We’re looking for the cause of this however users can restore their data in a few ways. Most of the time a simple logout/log back in helps sync the data once again however in extreme instances deleting the App and reinstalling takes care of the issue. We’re looking into this more however to get the user up and running asap logging out will address the issue most the time.

Next is the hiccup that’s been around for years, the issue of subscriptions not updating as expected. In this update we attempted again to improve this however it’s clear things still aren’t 100% perfect. We’ve kinda hit a point where we’re looking into hiring some outside assistance to improve this as we too are tired of letting the end user down.

In the meantime simply clicking the “Restore Subscription” will check the App stores and update your subscription. Clicking Restore will not double charge you so there’s no need to worry about that. If this fails please feel free to email us at [email protected] and we’ll be glad to assist further.

Lastly, we have some exciting progress to share. As we move forward with this update, we're thrilled to announce the upcoming Beta launch of a web version of PoolMath.

In the near future, we plan to make this new platform available for users to explore on their computers. However, we're not launching it just yet as we address a few finial issues. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this development phase.

I am still on Android version 3688. I do not have auto update enabled but when I check for updates nothing shows up for pool math. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it still reinstalls version 3688. Any ideas why the new versions are not showing up?

looks pretty good to me. I really like the app, well worth the subscription.

if anything i wish there was some API that my waterguru could use to populate the entries for PH and Chlorine since my waterguru measures that daily.

Glad I came here.
The App updated for me this morning. Didn't have time to even think about the new look before I noticed all my logs were gone.
(iPhone 7 iOS 15.8.2 if that matters!)
As suggested above, a quick Sign Out and Sign In restored everything.

Otherwise... so far, so good.(y)

Same! I appreciate the work of Leebo and others to improve/update everything.
The app is GREAT and I've used it for years (paid)
However, I'm struggling with the new interface and will be patient. (old dog, new tricks issue?)
;)

We first launched this via a “phased rollout” where only a certain percentage of the users got the update each day. By doing this we were able to only push the update to a small percentage of live users while we closely watched for any major issues. We launched this just before Memorial Day last month.

At the same time we knew this was a horrid time to do the update as the end of May was the busiest time of the year for the App. To help combat this issue we also “paused” the update where basically only brand new users got the updated Android version…….until now.

We went ahead today and pushed the automatic update to all Android users whom are eligible. You should start to see the update anytime now. 👍

Went to test pool this afternoon and noticed app had updated….logged test results and then noticed all my history was gone. Went in and clicked restore subscription on the IPhone. Went back to app and still no history. Was a little disturbed at this point. Logged in to the forum to see if it was just me. Immediately found out it wasn’t. I logged out of the poolmath app and back in and Lo and behold everything came back. I like the new app. Thanks guys for the update!

Perfect! Just checked and the update was finally there (now that you mention it a phased out roll out makes sense). On quick glance, history and all seems to have moved over fine for me. Thanks all for the work on the app!

Wanted to take a second and address another item people are noticing. Many users are now noticing that the “Overview” page shifted from the old two columns to a new layout with only one column. This is because
we’ve switched to a format that respects the user’s text size settings on their device. This means that the app will now adjust based on the font size you have set on your phone or tablet.

We made this change to improve accessibility and ensure the font size can be adjusted by individual users. However, we recognize that this might cause the layout to expand to a single column at times, which could result in more scrolling to see all your data.

The reason this happens is that the app follows the text size set by your device. If you have a larger text size setting, the app will adjust to accommodate, which can cause it to switch from a two-column layout to a one-column layout. This behavior ensures that text remains legible and user-friendly, especially for those who prefer larger fonts.

If you prefer the original two-column layout, you can adjust your text size settings. Here’s how you can do that based on your device type:

For iOS devices:

1. Go to Settings
2. Select Accessibility
3. Tap on Display & Text Size
4. Adjust the Larger Text slider to a smaller size

For Android devices:

1. Go to Settings
2. Select Display
3. Tap on Font size
4. Adjust the slider to a smaller size

We appreciate your understanding as we continue to enhance the app. Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for all users. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out!

Hi - liking the new look & feel of the app (I'm on iOS) however am wondering about the landscape mode.
In previous version, when turning the phone, the app would adjust but now it stays in portrait mode.
Was that intentional or am I missing some setting?

This was somewhat of an intentional bug…….

There is an issue with the framework that really messed up the screen when the user went into landscape mode. While we waited for that to be patched we went ahead and “locked” the App in portrait as we figured this is how the majority of the users use the app anyways. We do expect for this to be patched in the next update to Maui (framework used) and once that’s updated we can roll it out into the App.

I have a minor suggestion ... I'd like a place to put in SWG setting at the time of the test:
Today's test: (SWG dial in my case) set at 45. Increased to 65.
Or something like that.

On Android when the keyboard pops up it now covers the remaining fields so you have to close the keyboard to get to the lower down fields and to see the CSI then select another field to get the keyboard back. Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I thought you could still scroll down with the keyboard open before?

Over the last day or two, Jon has been addressing some of the feedback we’ve received since the app began rolling out automatically to all users. I’d like to share a few of the updates we’ve made as we continue to improve the app.

  • On the summary page, the “weight” has returned and the PPM added has been removed. This was a simple copy/paste error but has now been corrected back to the original display.
  • On the timeline and the overview pages, the “days since last test” has been restored. This was mostly an oversight that has been reverted.
  • We corrected a few descriptions to better explain what certain chemicals do to your pool’s chemistry.
  • Fixed landscape mode.
  • Fixed an error where the temperature may always show Fahrenheit on the overview.
  • Added an additional option for new Calcium Hypochlorite strengths

Additionally, Jon has been working on addressing a few other items, such as a bug that shows -1 from time to time on the timeline, restoring target levels while also “following” the user’s font size, and restoring the warning messages for the users. We’re really thankful for those of you who have taken the time to give us quality feedback as we knew we’d miss some things, and we can’t wait to continue to improve the app as we grow.

Lastly, we’ve been working diligently over the last few days to keep up with the increased number of issues that have arisen as a result of the update. If you’ve written to us and I haven’t fully addressed your issue yet, I sincerely apologize. Please know that we are actively tracking all reported issues and will do my best to assist you in any way possible as we work through these challenges. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated during this time, and we’re committed to ensuring that all concerns are resolved to your satisfaction as soon as possible.

The new format shocked me today. I had gotten used to the old one, but as a software engineer, I understand change is not only desired, but required to keep up with the tech that is out there. I assume that all the math calculations on CSI and additions to chemicals did not change. My CSI jumped to 0.6 today and it made me wonder if something else changed with the math in PoolMath.

Looking at the logs a few items jumped with the largest being your pH. The change in only your pH caused your csi to go from a 0.31 to a 0.51 alone. Knock down this level with some acid and you’ll be good to go. 👍

Thanks. I added 5 cups of acid to knock it down and take the TA down a bit as well. I have a spillway spa of about 1000 gallons, and run spillway mode about an hour a day. I know the aeration causes pH increases, so pH control has always been an issue.
