questions about pool math and raising CH

Hi all,

My pool is balanced almost perfectly but looking at the CSI and some other recommendations I may want to raise my CH a little from 300 to 400 as it seems to be dropping with the summer FL rain, and my current CSI is -.4 which may be a little lower than I want. Anyway so I started digging in the forums about CH and I guess the most affordable product out there is deicer "[FONT=&quot]contains 94% Pure CaCl2 Pellets[/FONT]"

Now I looked at the calcium increaser at leslies (just to compare I knew it would be more $$$) and they don't mention any % but state that for a 10K pool 1.25 lbs are needed to increase CH 10 ppm
then I looked at amazon and found a calcium increaser that cost less but they too didn't mention any % it seemed even more efficient as they said 10K pool 9 lbs raises CH 100 ppm
and looking through the forums here I see deicer is the best priced (found on amazon for less than half the price of calcium increaser) and they don't say anything about raising CH but reviews do indicate people use it for that.

Looking at pool math it says I need about 10 lbs (by weight) to raise the CH in my pool from 300 to 400. Now would that amount apply to the deicer "[FONT=&quot]contains 94% Pure CaCl2 Pellets[/FONT]"?. It seems spot on with the amazon calcium increaser, and the Leslies is a bit weaker, but I have no idea how deicer "[FONT=&quot]contains 94% Pure CaCl2 Pellets[/FONT]" fits in this equation. Thanks for any help I tried to find this answer in the forums but didn't find anyone asking this exact question.

So to sum up I'm just wondering if I buy a 50 lb bag of deicer "[FONT=&quot]contains 94% Pure CaCl2 Pellets[/FONT]" will it fit the pool math calculator "by weight" also if there are any other issues with buying deicer over calcium increaser please let me know.

I think I found my answer in this thread a little late... :confused:

so the deicer "contains 94% Pure CaCl2 Pellets" would fit the pool math but make sure I probably add it in a bucket and in small amounts (not all 10 lbs at the same time) due to the heat it creates.

If I'm wrong let me know...
