Questions about levels, why I am getting skewed results, and quick thoughts, advice while I wait to receive one of your test kits

Hi you guys, I had to reset my phone and now I don't see any of my messages except for the first few. Also all my details are gone. Do you know if there's some way to get my message history back? I can fill in the details about the pool that's no problem but I'd really like my message history back

They're around the corner from you and ship daily. It should be pretty quick.

I finally got it to load my current messages, so I created a shortcut on my phone launcher so I can get to my messages easily now.
Sorry to bother you with that.

Hi - husband bought a cold plunge tub, and I can't find anywhere that tells me what chemical level should be. I find hot tub and spa but I don't know if that's different from the cold plunge tub. Do you guys happen to know or can you point me in the direction of where I would find the recommended values? Thanks

I have some testingquedtooms... I did the saltwater test with a test strip km and the results I got after trying it twice did not match anything on the bottle. What I got was really light.
When I do the calcium hardness test and I add the three drops of r0011l, it turns kind of pink not red and I'm not sure if pink constitutes red. Also when it says it should turn blue mine always turns kind of up purplish color like not not really blue. I don't know what that means and I'm not sure what to do with that

today I went ahead and continued to get a test result if you look at the test results in pool math those are the latest ones I did the best I could with what I knew how to do Also the same is true with the alkalinity test I'm never sure when to stop as far as what constitutes red because I get all kinds of Pinks and then it gets to like a dark red so I think I wait for the dark red? I just want to confirm
Thanks for your continued help. It means a lot.

Test strips aren't accurate. Get a Taylor K1766 salt test kit - it is a drop based kit.

As for the CH test - try continuing to add drops until you get the blue color. Continue to add drops until the last drop doesn't change the color further and then subtract that last drop.
Same idea for the TA test - continue adding drops until the last drop doesn't change the color and then subtract that last drop.

Test your fill water for pH, TA and CH - report those results here.

Add your test kit to your signature.

I did a round of tests yesterday and they're in the log. I just redid the CH test - result is 200. That is still off comparing it to the chart. I'm still curious about the recommended additives . I went ahead and logged to the new CH test . Can you see my log? There are results from yesterday and then I redid some of the tests today and those are in there too along with the CH test from today.

I have conditioner in a sock soaking in the pool. What's the difference between doing it that way and putting it in the skimmer basket? The skimmer basket just seems easier but I haven't done it that way before so I'm not sure what is best.

Just a side note, I totally love the new pH reader that I got. Trying to figure out what color it was in that little tube was frustrating. I'm going to order the salt kit you recommended.

Again - your help and kindness - and PATIENCE is greatly appreciated.

I just clicked on the link in the menu for pool math or test results whatever it is and it doesn't show anything since the beginning of August so I don't think it's syncing right I'll have to look into that but I will go ahead and give you the values now in case you can't see what's recent either.1000003780.jpg

Let me know if the picture isn't great I'll type in the info.

If I remember correctly there is a way to link your whole pool math thing to your TFP profile I can't remember how I did it but I don't think it's linked anymore. If you know how I need to do that let me know. Thanks

If you have added CYA in a sock soaking in the pool, dose your FC like the CYA is already in the water.
So if you added enough CYA to reach 50, dose the FC up to the target for CYA of 50 - which is FC 6-8.

Lower your pH to around 7.6 in 0.4 increments - take it from 8.3 to 7.9 first and test pH 30 minutes later. Then lower it further to 7.6 in increments that don't exceed 0.4.
This will help lower your TA of 80 a bit. Allow pH to rise and again lower to 7.6 until the TA is in the 60-70 range, then let pH sit at 7.8-8.0. The lower TA will help minimize the pH rise.

Yeah, I noticed that your PoolMath logs were old. Be sure you are logged into PoolMath with the same email and password you use for the forums.
If you already do that, send an email to [email protected] for further assistance.

Pool log this a.m
FC is 6.5
pH 7.8
TA is 80
I put cya to 50 it is dissolved
I sent a message to Paul math just haven't heard anything yet. Let me know what you think about the logs and the test results I mean. Thanks

Hi! Haven't written in a while. Thanks have been pretty stable which is good. However my chlorine is up a lot today and I'm not sure why. I think my logs sync now so let me know if you can see them. If you can't my chlorine is up to 10:00. Everything else looks good except the pH is just a little high it's at 7.7. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on why my chlorine might Spike as it did. We've had some rain it's been actually more cloudy than sunny so that's a curious thing to me.

The sun is getting lower in the sky and the days are getting shorter. This time of year, when you miss an adjustment time, you make too much FC and it spikes.

This is the good time of year to goof. When you miss an adjustment in the spring, you make too little FC and BOOM, swamp.

You’re just fine. You can dial down your SWCG some and FC demand is now lower, as @Newdude mentioned.
