I have seen to close you shock hold overnight, drain, cover etc. Any reason you couldn't lower water, then shock?? My as well save yourself some chlorine instead of just draining it out? Just a thought and question..

You want to circulate the water and mix it well after shocking. You need your pump running to do that.
Yes I was only going to drain down to the inlet and outlets but not below. Would it still be ok?
