Quad DE Backwash problem.

Hi folks, Have a Quad DE 80 with a push pull valve for backwashing. Followed the instructions posted in TFP to backwash the filter and noticed the water coming through the sight glass to the drain is not very cloudy. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thank you!

My backwash process:
- Shut off the water pump
- Let air out via air relief valve.
- Pushed Slider valve down
- Turned pump on

Run it a few minutes and bleed out the air. You want the tank full. Sounds like you're starting with the tank empty.

Shut off pump and open the backwash valve, then turn pump on.

If you still don't see a bunch of dirty DE come out after 30 seconds, then you may need to open up the filter to see what is going on.

If you've been using cellulose, I can tell you from firsthand experience that it starts getting really sticky and doesn't backwash off well.

With a quad 80, you would be better off to just open and clean the filter once a year and forget about backwashing.
