If that is an IntelliFlo pump, it is for a serial control cable... (I assume it is as JamesW is never wrong.. )

If it is an Pentair SuperFlo VS, it is for a cable that allows you to externally control the pump with discrete voltage inputs..

Right ok. So the remote device can work without this being connected right?

It's Intelliflo, correct?

It can work in stand-alone mode without being connected to automation.

Do you have automation?

If yes, what automation do you have?

If you have Pentair automation, you should connect the pump so that the automation can control the pump.

If you have other automation, like Jandy or Hayward, it would probably have been better to use a compatible pump from the same manufacturer.
