Came down this morning to find the pump not running and the breaker tripped. Pump is humming/drawing current but just throws breaker after a couple seconds. Opened up the pipe fittings and don't see anything. Pump just go bad? any ideas?

Turn the power off. See if you can spin the motor (normally can use a screwdriver at the motor end).

Does the motor have a capacitor?

The capacitor starts the motor turning. If it's bad it won't turn the motor. It will just sit there and hum. You'll need to good electrical test meter with a capacitor setting to test the capacitor.
