Pump replacement question

I have a Hayward Super Pump which is working fine. I generally run my pump mostly at night (when the Hydro rates are low) and a couple hours around 11am to 1pm. Would it be worthwhile to buy a new pump and run it longer during the day on a lower speed setting or wait until my current pump fails to make that change?

It depends on how you want to run it. Since you are not running a SWG, you do not really have a minimum runtime. You should only need to run for as long as need for good skimming of the pool and circulating chemicals you add.

Calculate your current run time cost and then calculate runtime cost for a new pump at lower speed and see if it is worth it.

One benefit at the lower speed is a quieter pump. Remember though, you can’t go to low or you will not get efficient skimming for surface.
