Pump anti freeze feature Question

My VS pump turns on full speed when the temperature gets too low. I was wondering if in your (or anyone's) experience, is low speed (50%) probably sufficient protection against freezing temperatures? I mean, obviously that depends on the temperature, but here in Texas we're usually only down in the 20's.

Thanks for anyone's input!

You only need minimal water flow. Your VS pump should be able to be adjusted on what speed it uses for freeze protection.

41,

I run my pump at 1200 RPM, and have never had a freezing problem.. 50% seems way to fast for me. You just need to have a small flow to prevent freezing unless it is going to continually stay below freezing for several days in a row.

Thanks,

Jim R.
