OK.....Thanks for the response.....I'll double check it when I'm back there.....but there was no leak that I saw at the ball valve and no moisture around the area. If I can't find a lease do you have any other ideas as to what could have caused this? Appreciate your help

It's a slow leak - likely innthe black piece just above the ball valve.

Clean the entire pipe/hose, starting at the cyclone device and working downward.
Try to look at the equipment more often - that buildup took a while to form.

Is this on your CA or AZ pool?
Neither shows a complete equipmemt list (with model numbers) or test kit info.

I’ll definitely check it out when I go back. It’s my house in AZ. I thought my equipment was listed but I’ll update it. I use the Taylor test kit
Appreciate your input

Honestly, do you really need the cyclone pre filter? TFP doesn’t really recommend them. Also, the way that drain line is plumbed you are asking for freeze thaw damage. That’s a metal ball valve screwed into a plastic fitting. Two completely dissimilar materials that expand and contract at different amounts with rising and falling temperatures. That setup is asking for a fractured fitting. If you’re going to keep the pre filter then you need to redo the plumbing on that drain. You can use PVC ball valves as they are cheap and replaceable from Sun exposure or you can splurge and buy the ones that are rebuildable. But you should never mix materials like that.

Joy, thks for the input.....I did not know much about the cyclone, the PB said they just pout them in and my friend in the area says they help keep the filter clean so I just went with it. It does make sense to replace the ball valve so I'll definitely do that when I get back in town and check for leaks.....appreciate the input
