Hello SagenBrunson, welcome to TFP

I hate to tell you this but you may very well still have some living algae in there, along with dead algae.
Here at TFP we do not trust pool store testing. It often seems to be more focused on selling you something than getting it right. In fact the free testing is inaccurate more often than not! If you take your water sample to 3 unrelated stores you get 3 varying results.
Free Chlorine (FC) is what you need- NOT Shock Powders because they also contain stabilizer (CYA) which builds up with use. As your CYA level rises, so too do your FC requirements to kill algae. And it is not a single dose or two, and it may be more than you're used to using because you must take your CYA level into consideration. Please read how we turn our pools into sparkling sanitary oasis.
SLAM Process
How Clear is TFP Clear?
We use Liquid Chlorine that has no other chemical in it. For example Pool Essentials brand often available at Walmart or Lowes.
We also use our own test kits which allow us to monitor the health of our water and use our knowledge learned here on how to treat any problems. I have a salt pool so I love the TF-Pro Salt kit, and its lasted 2 yrs, and. I refill it as needed. Others use the Taylor K-2006C kit, which has all the tests but isn't as good a value as the TF-Pro, or the TF-100.

Taylor K-2006C
Any one of the above will get you better results than anything the pool store uses.
Questions? Holler back, y'hear?
