Pool's milky green-ness seems VERY stubborn

Yep - OCLT & CCs maybe, but clearly not clear.
I guess I briefly thought that with the chlorine like that there was clearly nothing being, or to be, killed any more. Overlooked for a second that...
"So? And?! There are THREE criteria and your water is NOT clear!"

Do I need to stay on them about brushing? The evening I went all over it, the brushing had zero impact on the night's (lack of) chlorine consumption. So there's nothing to scrub off?

And do I need to clean off their filter every morning and evening? Since it doesn't get gunky any more, only just a little dirty each time that rinses right off.

As for the filter does it have a gauge? Is so then use it to tell you when to clean the filter. Do they have a skimmer? Is so you can put a skimmer sock in it to help the filter. Easier to clean when needed.

Keep going with the SLAM until it is clear. This is the hardest part of the SLAM :( This is where a pic each day looking down at something in the pool will help you see that is is clearing each day bit by bit.

Thanks Kimkats (and Kellyfair above) - SLAMming will not stop :salut:

Their pump/filter setup is the same basic one that came in the box with the pool. No gauges, no nothing.
I could try fixing something onto the flat skimmer 'basket' that sits on top of the skimmer/pump unit - or maybe I could slip said skimmer panel inside some kind of additional filtering medium and then replace it. Or even put a sock over the return.
Would this improve the level of filtering that their cartridge does? I had the understanding that cartridges were among the most efficient filters - and the criss-cross densely woven material (reminds me of what fibreglass looks like) that those cylidrical filters are made of seems like it would catch a lot more, and smaller, than any sock or hairnet or stocking I could add?

(Then again, earlier in this process - when it was fairly gross - in eagerness to not have crud blown back into the pool I did put a white sock over the return and it did get pretty/very grubby and even caught some largish particulates...?...)

Thank you Dave somehow I didn't see your response!

Thank you also for reminding me that Yes, of course, if the return is strong it's fine and if weak it's too blocked.

Great tip about a 'dirty' filter cleaning better because it's less penetrable :D
I remember reading once here about that, it just feels so counter-intuitive. (Especially early in the process - I was afraid of shooting the gunk from the filter back into the pool thru the return)

Again - thanks for two great tips!
