Pool Water Testing

Ok. So I keep the FC level at 12ppm and keep it there then do another overnight test after 24 or 48 hours?

Check it morning, lunch, and afternoon and keep adding chlorine to it to keep it at 12ppm?

Or more often if you can. The SLAM will go the faster the more often you can test and keep the FC at the elevated level. You could test up to every hour or two.

Since you're testing so often I'd just make it a habit to try and test/add after dusk and before dawn, and then you're doing an OCLT daily anyway.

Finished the slam process this morning and plugging up my SWCG up in a bit.

Going to purchase some more stabilizer to get my CYA up and start leveling out my other chemicals.

Am I on the right track or is there something I’m missing?

FC 2.5
CC none present
PH 7.4
TA 140ppm
CH 190ppm
CYA 30 ppm (adding 5lbs this afternoon)
Salt 3100 (from controller)

Pic of the entire pool is from yesterday. It’s been cloudy and raining today. I’ve had those spots appear on the plaster the last couple of months and that’s what brought me to TBF.

Y’all have any idea what that could be?

I’ve got some liquid chlorine from the SLAM I was going to add to it to get it up one I got the stabilizer in.

Not sure about the texture. I can prob finds some goggles from the kids and look tomorrow afternoon.

Anything I’m looking for in particular @kimkats?

FC should be added each and every day. You have to "feed" your pet daily.

What I am looking for is are the spots raised or a divot (hole)? Do they feel smooth or bumpy? Can you pick them off with your finger nail?

Ok. I’ll check that out and let you know.

I’ve always relied on my SWCG to add chlorine daily. Am I wrong on that?

No, you just need to turn it up and treat the minimum chlorine level like it’s a cliff you don’t want to fall off of. Do you have the results of your OCLT to share? Lots of newcomers think it’s a one and done process and think they’re done when they’re really not. Just wanting to make sure that’s not the case here.
