My pool steps had become discolored (dingy gray hue) over the course of this summer.
Vitamin C has successfully (like magic) treated the discoloration. Looks great. Thank you!
I am trying to understand the root cause of the discoloration.
The discoloration began to appear about mid August.
Any thoughts are appreciated?
Background:
- Vinyl liner and pool steps were replaced 4 years ago
- I switched to liquid chlorine this year (I test with TF-100 every 2 days)
- My CYA is very high (~70) so I have kept my chlorine level high (average between 7-10 ppm)
- For high CYA reasons, I pumped out and refilled (city water) about 8,000 gallons this May (pool is 22,000 gallons)
- I SLAM'd my pool once this summer (late July) and kept the chlorine level for 4 days (between 20-30 ppm)
- For the past month I have been adding weekly 8 oz. does of algaecide (colloidal silver as elemental 0.80%)
- There is no pool heater involved
- I have owned and treated this pool myself for 30+ years
Thanks in advance, Ken
