We bought a house with a very old, cement pool. It is very stained, surface is rough and we recently had tiles starting to fall off. I’m not sure if the tiles falling off is a result of too much water getting behind them, weight of tree lift that had to remove all the trees covering the pool or structure issues. I have asked four pool companies what I need to do to fix this pool. One said to rip up all decking, re do that, tile and plaster. Another said leave decking, redo tile and plaster, a third said leave decking, get rid of tile and plaster and a fourth said to fill it in. I really don’t want to fill it in and I would rather not rip up the cantilever decking if we don’t have to. But I don’t want to redo the tile only to have it fall off a few years later because we didn’t redo the decking. I am so lost at the best way to proceed. This isn’t our forever home so I don’t want to spend a fortune but I also don’t want to cut costs and do a cheap remodel that will cost us more down the road.
