Pool remodel disaster

Hello. I am totally new to all of this. But I have been reading the forums for over a month. Gathering info regarding the current situation of our pool remodel

We wanted to replaster our pool/new coping/lights ect.

Last year contractor placed new coping first. Within weeks it was broken and shifted. He never came out to do anything. And when he finally did he blew it off that it was an east fix.

Come this spring when we were ready to replaster. He claims the pool dropped half an inch causing the coping to fall. He said the pool needed to be mud jacked.

Mud jack guy said he did not believe this was the cause but contractor insisted it be done

New coping fixed. New quartz plaster done
My pool was open without water for 2.5 months
After new plaster. I was given no instructions about start up. I only new about a start up from finding this forum. When asking my contractor about it I was told they handle it
I checked my cameras and they came out one to brush. I was out of town until today and I started back up. It went 2.5 days no brushing. I haven’t seen anyone check the water. Add anything.

To end this post. I was told my skimmer line is probably cracked. And it happened “likely” during mud jacking. But as with everything with this project there’s always an excuse. They have having a sonar done to check and then repair it.
My concerns other than the mountain of issues and money this has cost us.
How can they repair this without ruining the new plaster? Also. I’ve noticed streaks in my pool. White areas along the wall. Is this permanent and was it caused bc they failed to provide proper brushing and water chemistry?

I’m on the verge of a breakdown. It’s a never ending nightmare.

Welcome to TFP. You have been through a lot of bad advice so far.

What the repair is to the skimmer line depend on where the crack is. Tell us more details or show us pics.

Also. I’ve noticed streaks in my pool. White areas along the wall. Is this permanent and was it caused bc they failed to provide proper brushing and water chemistry?

The white streaks were caused during the plaster applications. Brushing and water chemistry makes no difference.

Maybe we can help you going forward. We cannot undo what has been done.

Thank you for your reply.
Good to know about plaster application and white streaks.

At this time I don’t have any pictures of the crack to the skimmer line. It’s still being “diagnosed”
We’re waiting on someone to do a sonar to determine if that’s the issue. I guess there is no pressure at that line and that’s what’s making them think there is a crack

Unfortunately my pool equipment motherboard was blown during plaster install.
They plugged in their equipment into my pool outlet and blew everything. In fact they blew three outdoor outlets and had to plug into my indoor outlet to finish the job. (This was during the process of chipping away the old plaster using their drills) it’s been a big back and forth of who’s fault it is. Luckily the IntelliCenter is still under warranty. Only good news we have received during this Darn show.

For now. I’m brushing 2x a day down into my main drain area. And try to keep my sanity.

@ajw22
My normal pool guy who does my service let me know he doesn’t think it’s a cracked skimmer line. There is Zero pressure. He said it’s likely a clog. He also says that these guys are not doing anything the way it’s supposed to be done. He’s taking over the start up. Bc the PH was extremely high. And my contractor was not worried about it at all. And just planned on doing an acid wash on it.
I am thankful for this forum and people like my pool service man who is stepping up to help how he can.
Next stop is figuring out who we need to come check for a clog bc we don’t want to use our contractor.

Many folks have used Drain King to clear skimmer clogs....

@ajw22 I’m reading up on this as well. Mind blowing we had to bring this to my contractor as an option for a possible issue instead of assuming it’s a crack

Last question and I know it’s probably best to post this in a new blog. But here goes.
I originally asked for pentair 5G LED lights.
I have IntelliCenter. They installed jandy. What can be added to control the jandy lights. Bc I refuse to spend that money and have to click 17 times for a certain feature to appear. Is there an additional part I can have them install to make this fully functional.

Keep all your pool questions in one thread.

Your Pool Builder really committed malpractice putting Jandy LED lights on an IntelliCenter.

If you don't want to change your pool lights to Pentair then you can have the lights rewired off of the IntelliCenter and to a Jandy Light controller.

@ajw22 I guess my complaining and research paid off. I’m getting jandy lights removed and the pentair lights installed.
This was me who has no pool knowledge questions 2 men in the business telling me “jandy should work”
I’m glad I went with my gut and asked you guys for help. Bc I didn’t think it would be as functional.

Next step I’ve got them out here checking for a clog. Again..not sure why this wasn’t a first course of action before assuming it was a crack in the skimmer line and wanting to tear up my flagstone. I’m truly waiting for a big rats nest to come out if there since the pool was open almost 3 months and we have rats in this part of Texas 😂

You were due for some good news.

Do you have skimmer baskets to keep the debris out of the skimmer lines?

You using skimmer socks on the skimmer baskets?
