Hello- our pool pump died. It says its 1.25 hp. I know my pool is about 30k gallons. Shoudl I go with variable speed? And any suggestions on what to get?

So how old is the pump and your sure it not something not easily repaired, breaker GFI, wiring, capacitor? Then.
Most everyone on here will suggest VS pump. The big three are Hayward, Pentair, Jandy , todays pricing$$$$. Other knockoff option is Calimar 3hp. pricing is $ .
The advise commonly given is go with the 3HP is moves plenty of water at lower speeds resulting in big power savings.

Post photos of your pump, equipment pad, and motor nameplate from pump. You might be able to replace just the motor with a variable speed motor while keeping everything else. Or you might need extensive surgery... Hard to say without more information.
