So I have begun the process of getting my pool ready for this year. I had to drain it due to the nature project growing in there and to replace the pool light as well. My wife and I are thinking about repainting it. I need some help deciding if this is the right thing to do, what type of paint to use, and how to prep it for painting. It is a plaster pool with tile around the trim. Also, is it advisable to use a power washer to clean the inside of the pool? If so, what is the recommended psi? I am glad to have stumbled upon this website and look forward to getting a lot of feedback.

The one thing we pretty universally encourage people to not do is paint a pool. The paints of today are nothing like the ones of the past. Flaking, chalking, etc starts to happen nearly immediately.
Re-plastering, though more expensive, will give you a good 20+ years of life if you follow the TFP methods.

An update on the pool cleaning process. After doing some research, I have decided to do an acid wash to remove the dirt and grime left from the draining. I have started the process this morning and will be finishing this evening. The process is moving a lot quicker than I thought and is relatively easy and is working very well. I should have some before and after pictures in a day or so.
Looks nice! Did you acid wash before or after pressure washing? What paint did you use? How many coats? While obviously the durability is unknown, any up-front regrets or suggestions?
