Pool light transformer makes a loud thump noise when turned on

Hello Nabril15 - I'm not sure if you ever contacted Inyo but I just stumbled across this thread. If you always plan on using an LED bulb, you could go with a 12v 100w pool fixture. There is a great deal on a 12V LED pool light with 30' of cord. The Pure Colors PL5820 is currently on sale for $199.99. This fixture will fit your niche and the LED bulb is replaceable. There are other options if you need a longer cord (50' & 100').

Inyo also has the fixtures without an LED bulb.

Thanks Rob, I did call and was advised that I cannot use a 12v/100w fixture since that would be for a spa light. I know that's not the case, so no biggie. I need 50 feet of cord, and found a good deal on a 300w fixture.

I will probably have 10-15 feet of slack at the light fixture, and I know that I need to leave enough to be able to bring the fixture to the edge (4 feet or so). Is there any harm in leaving all 10 or 15 feet coiled up in the fixture, IF IT FITS?

A year and change from the opening thread, I am happy to bring closure to this.
I replaced the light fixture with another Amerilite by using the existing cord to pull the new one. I didn't tape it as well as I should, and thus the pulling caused them to come apart. I had to get in the very cold water to pry the old cable out, retied it better, and I was able to pull it through. I installed my gifted RGB LED bulb, and it works beautifully. I didn't have to replace the transformer, but I do still notice the thud that I originally reported; I can live with it.

Thank you to the inyopools videos that show the process of pulling the cord, and thank you to all of you that contributed. All the colors look good, except the evil-looking red (bloodlike), and the green.
