Pool Light Niche

Hi I have a very old Anthony Sylvan Pool circa 1980's? I bought in 2015 and the pool was a mess. It is kidney shaped, no drain , one skimmer, deep end is 5 ft shallow is 3 ft.

This spring I am having a much needed new finish, tile and coping stone renovation. But I have a problem. I have an empty light niche that I need to fill. Any ideas? The light has never worked since we moved in. There is no light fixture in the niche, just 2 feet of cable that has been cut. I assume the light stopped working a very long time ago and prevous owners removed the fixure and cut the electical after diconnecting the feed. I have no idea where the box , switch nor have to been able to dig up original electrical line to light.

I dont need a light and the reno is expensive enough and the reno company told me " "we don't fix lights, call an electrician".
I need to fill the niche hole and the reno company has said they "will not touch it". Can they just patch and fill the niche? What should I ask them to do it ?

Can I get a dummy fake light to fit into the niche to fill the niche? I need some help. I have no idea what size it is and the reno starts in spring so I need to formulate a plan now. Please help me.

A bad photo of the niche is in my proifle picture above. It is not a close up but the niche is just a circle that is about 3-4 inches deep and appears to be rough concrete.

I don't see any reason you can't fill it in with concrete and let them plaster over it.

Just make sure that the power is disconnected from the wires.

There should be a junction box somewhere in all of that vegetation behind the deck somewhere.

You should also have a light breaker at the pool equipment.

Is that a duck in the pool looking at the light?

Is the dog ignoring the duck for some reason?

Seems suspicious to me. 🤨

LOL
the duck is dumb
the dog is trouble and often captures the dumb duck and runs around the pool deck with it
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice.
What size do you think the niche is based on my pools age and the fact that the niche has no metal ring or liner.
When you say fill it with it with concrete you mean like mix up some quickrete and fill the hole when the pool is empty prior to the company resurfacing the pool?

I know how to do that bc I have patched the crumbling water line area that was originally tiled ( I am guessing) each spring prior to opening it. Each year since 2015 more and more of the waters edge crumbles off hence the big $ project reno that we are finally doing this spring. :(

Yes, mix up some concrete and fill it in.

You have to make it really stiff (Low Slump) so that it does not fall out of the hole.

I would get fast setting and maybe even add some hydraulic cement in the mix to get it to set up faster, but you have to be careful to work fast so that the concrete does not set up before you are ready.

No idea.

Why do you care if you are going to fill it in?
