I did a quick search but did not find a definitive answer as to whether pool light assemblies and niches follow some sort of mounting standard and are interchangeable.
Originally my thought was that they the light and niche were unique to each other and not cross brand interchangeable however as I am looking at new light fixtures it appears that I may be able to keep the old niche and replace just the light fixture IF I can get the old cord out of the conduit....big if!
It would save me a lot of work/aggravation/sweat/tears/blood, etc. if I could "simply" replace the light fixture.
My pool is a hybrid so I believe replacing niche would not involve concrete demo.
No idea the brand of the niche. It is made of copper if that helps at all and the pool was built in 1970. It has a screw at the top and a notch at the bottom for the current chrome beauty ring.
I will post a pic if the water level has not risen above the niche over the winter.
What say the experts?
Thanks
Jay
