Pool Gear for a new pool?

I am going to add to your shopping list and comment on a couple of things.

Here is a great thread about storage of chemicals:

Do NOT use the same vessel to measure chlorine and muriatic acid. They should each have their own.

Your pool will need it's own toothbrush............say what?? LOL This is great for going around the lights, returns, skimmer, any and all small areas.

I have two poles. One set to long and one set to short. I got tired of fighting with the ring to change the sizes so............2 it is.

NO glass allowed by or in the pool. That includes tables with glass tops. A good wind can push it into the pool :( SO you get to go shopping for plates and cups to use around the pool.

Some way to hang up towels outside instead of them just being dumped on the ground. Do a search for "pool towel hanger ideas" and many will come up

Something to put all of the toys and such in. Again do a search and many ideas will come up.

Thank for some great ideas, I was just talking to the wife about towels! I will definitely look up some ideas on here.

Just ordered some stuff on Amazon, and will add measuring containers. What size container would be generally right? 2 cups, 4 cups?

Ok pool fam, my plaster is finally getting done tomorrow after some hiccups and bad weather.

I picked up some acid, stabilizer, and chlorine today. I have a scale, buckets, hoses, brush, and pole. I even got some flow meters to see how many gallons go in. I also got the pool math subscription and my property kit... you should be able to see my fill water readings.

We ended up having extra cost, and I decided to do the start up myself, they wanted 800 for 5 days, Monday through friday only, to brush 1 time a day. I figure I can handle it and save the money.

From what I gather, it's a traditional start up, but they will add acid and sequestered agent. After the fill, i will just follow the pamphlet which i am waiting on.. but im guessing it's close to the NPC. I know I want to keep my PH down by adding acid, and that should be 7.2 to 7.6 or so. My fill water TA is high, but i guess we will see what it looks like with sone acid in it, and then I can play with bubbles and acid to get it to where it needs to be. Then brush brush brush.

Am i missing anything i need. Am I not understanding start up of plaster? Pretty netvous, but I've been reading quite a bit.

. My fill water TA is high,
If your TA is 200 or more and TA + CH is over 400 consider doing the BiCarb startup…

I use hair nets in my skimmer baskets to catch as much debris as possible from making its way into my filter....the filter cartridges can be tedious to clean (and the pump tricky to prime afterwards) so I do what I can to take some of the load off the filter. When Spring is in full shedding mode I have changed the hair nets out as much as 2x per day.

When the pool is done be sure to have the installers document the valve positions for you. I didn't take notes when we first opened and I soon forgot those details

Good idea using those instead of the socks.. price seems way better.

Good tip on the valves too. Will probably use a label maker on them
