Pool depth 6' or 8' will I regret 6'? Which slide for SW?

Soooo, our pool was ordered in May. Pool is 18x35x29 lagoon and 6ft depth. Liner has come in, construction starts Aug 15th. We chose a 6ft depth b/c we are not planning to get a diving board. Will we regret sticking with 6ft? Now I'm seriously considering asking what the cost would be to re-order it in 8ft (we still would not do a diving board-
hubby doesn't want the liability).
I'm aware that I'm probably insane at this point and way overthinking this whole thing. We are planning to put a slide in later down the road and plumbing for that during construction. We have 7 kids. One has left home (military), one is graduating college next spring and moving out shortly after, and the next leaves for college the following year, but we still have 4 more to go. LOL! Anyway, those kids are currently 15, 12, 10.5, and 6.5, so quite a few years of use...plus grandkids down the road quicker than we can blink, I'm sure. We live in the land of "summer, summer, summer, no winter" down here in Louisiana, so we will get lots of pool use with the addition of our heat pump we are having put in. Will the kids just love the slide so much and forget about the depth not being 8ft? Can they still dive at an angle? I really wish we had taken more time to decide these things, but my husband was kind of rushing to get it ordered and I really hate making decisions, so I let him make that one.... sigh....

As for the slide....we have been looking at the Smith Rogue 2 b/c it fits how much I can talk him into spending, lol. Will it hold up to the salt water? And where is the best place to buy it? discount? We would get the taupe or gray (latham gold pebble liner, no border), and not all websites carry those colors.

I don't think you will regret 6', but I am so glad I went 8'. I was worried to have so little shallow, but the kids and myself love the deep end. My youngest (7yrs old) even wants to spend most of her time swimming and jumping into the 8' end this year.

Maddie, oh Maddie!! I am calling her because she LOVES a good, deep diving pool! Your kids will love anything with water in it! NO diving of any kind allowed if you stick with 6ft.

Have you looked into the "rules" as far as depth and such for slides? Make sure to as that can influence your decision.

Not many slides are done so I don't know of any places to buy or get a discount from...sorry.

PB assured me 6ft was deep enough for the slide. It would go near the deepest end of the pool.

I have a 7ft deep end. No diving from the side allowed because of the slope and pool length. I'm glad we went 7' - for my 6'2" son loves doing cannonballs from the deck. And I love swimming down in the deep end to gather pine needles - just to help out Rosie my robot. Lol!!

It all comes down to personal preferences. Also, how tall are your family members? My family, for example, are not tall. I am 5' 9", and my wife is 5' 4". My two kids are 2 and 5 years old, so they'll be fine diving (in angle) and canonballing in 5' 6" deep end for the next 10 years. If we were over 6' tall, I would have gone deeper.. LOL

Millions of people have pools 6' or shallower. I'm sure you will grow to love your pool as it is currently designed/planned.

Well, we have 4 boys. The 20yo, 15yo, and my husband are all right at 6ft. My tallest daughter is 5'6". My oldest daughter and I are 5'2". Jury is still out on the younger 3 kids, but I'm sure the boys will probably also be tall.

I just did a 6' pool and when water is low I can stand in deep end just breathing. I can cannonball, kids love it, and no issues, not to mention less water in pool and easier to heat and circulate. You have a big pool plenty of room, if your not diving 6' is plenty for jumps and slides
