Pool coping questions

My liner is slipping badly and I am replacing it. The pool company is saying it is possibly the result of a very old coping which should be replaced as well. Originally they were recommending that i tear up all the concrete to install new coping. Now they are saying that they can replace the track without touching the coping itself and thus leave the concrete intact. They cannot guarantee that the old coping is not capable of holding the new liner but they said it makes the most sense to replace the track while they are installing liner, and not waiting till we see if the old track fails.

Does it make sense to replace the track before we see if the old coping/track is really not good?

Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.
