Pool Contract - Pool Builder's Repetitive Mistakes

Thanks, I'll use your "cool" comment the next time one of them says "I hate you" or "You don't love me" because we don't let them do something. Our kids are great, but their mouths sure don't have any filters at any age!

I think everyone has one of those metal swing sets at one point or another, as evidenced by everyone's responses!
Well, I must say I'm glad to hear that our kiddo isn't the only one that can get lippy. Over all, he's been a good kid.

As I tell all parents of the kids I teach "If your kids does not tell you they hate you or you are the worst parents ever" then you are not doing your job as a parent! Sounds like all of you are doing parenting right!

Kim,
You are exactly right. lol I remember as a kid I'd tell my mom that I was going to call CPS and she'd literally pick up the phone and say that she'd dial them for me. lol

Pfffffffft. Rookie. I grab my car keys and go toss the threatening kid on my shoulder. No need to call, I'll drop you off there. They seem to change their mind quickly.

I remember at the young age of 6 being so mad at mom for something (I forgot what), I told her I was gonna "run away". She was like "go right ahead!". I proceeded to walk down the street, got to the second house, got scared and came back home crying...lol. She asked "do you feel better now?"

Are they applying it to the tile itself ? For individual pieces its pretty common in bathrooms, and known as 'back buttering' as it kinda looks like spreading on toast. I don't see why it would be bad here, but i'm no plaster pro so hang tight. :)

sigh.......................bet you can guess why the sigh.............those first two pics are a no go...........that is just lazy and should not be allowed to stay like that. The grout lines are going to be HUGE on the ones done like that. My guess is they did not grind down the old stuff that was there and it is pushing the tiles out from the wall. I hope I am wrong.

They're not putting any substrate/thin set on the back wall and troweling it. If I'm not mistaking, I thought that the trowel marks were important. ???
Thinset should be applied with a notched trowel to the pool surface then the back of a tile buttered and placed on the wall. You should see the notches in the thinset when the tile is removed if it was properly installed.

See around the 2 minute mark in this video…

@Newdude I'm hanging. I'm no tile expert either. I was just concerned regards to the spacing in the back of the tile and water able to get in behind.

@ajw22 Okay! That's what I thought by watching your video instructions after the first time. Also, by doing research as well. Thank you VERY much!

I, nor kim, nor most likely Allen, like it. The 1st pic corner is terrible, both in adhesion coverage and aesthetics. 2 and 3 look to be lacking the adhesion as well, but at least are alligned better. Has the PB seen it ? He needs a new crew and it will be interesting to see if he is proud of that work.

Kim,
They started grinding down the old thin set last Saturday and it wasn't grinded down enough. They finished up the griding process on Wednesday and then applied the water membrane on Thursday. Started installing the new tile on Friday and Saturday. It appeared pretty smooth after they were done grinding. This is just my thought....I'm thinking they're just globbing the thin set on there and then putting the tile on the wall. Ugh! What's a girl to do now? I did seek legal guidance on Thursday though.

The tile guys are hacks. Their cuts are uneven.

You don't use pieces of cardboard for spacers. There are plastic tile spacers specifically to create even joints.

You need to talk with some other local tile guys about proper tiling practices.

@ajw22 Thank you VERY much for providing me with your knowledge. I thought the cardboard spacers didn't look right, but I wasn't 100% sure since I'm not an expert. Ugh! So, the only solution is to rip all this off again? I will definitely seek out for local tile guys. This is ridiculous!
