Pool Blaster MAX / Catfish how long did yours last?

I bought a poolblaster MAX 3 years ago. It worked great for spot cleaning.
I had no robot at the time, just a suction cleaner so it was very convenient at times to
use for a quick floor clean.

The first one I had lasted nearly a year and I made the mistake of not letting
it air out all the way. Moisture got in and it died, but it was covered on the warranty
so they sent me another one.

This replacement has lasted 1.5 years. I was religious about cleaning it immediately
and letting it dry and keeping it charged. As good a care as is possible.

Now it's dead and the company says it will cost minimum of $ 120 to service,which
is just around what I paid for it new.

I think I'm done with this unit. Lots of reviews say they last a year maybe 2 at
most. I looked on ebay for a 3rd party repair service, but no dice.

Anyone have one last much longer than that?

My battery is pretty much shot. Lasts about five minutes on a charge. Not a big deal. As time goes on, I get less and less fanatical about my pool. A few leaves in the bottom don't bother me anymore.

Hey Richard! I was hoping you would respond as you've mentioned your catfish in some posts.

I'd be happy with 5 min if the darn thing worked for years.

How long have you had yours? It seems like the Catfish outlives the MAX models by a wide margin.
And new they cost around $ 90 now....I'm considering that as a replacement.

LOL isn't that the truth Yesterday my hubby was swimming and he said he has never seen the pool this dirty and trust me it wasn't that bad. Topic: Mine got water in it two years ago and they replaced the battery (under warranty) and it is still going strong. I still like mine (and keep it charged)
but don't use it very often.

I used one just about every day including winter for almost 2.5 years. When the one I have dies........it'll be replaced with another one just like it. It's just too dang convenient for me to use and clean. My Pool Rover gets sparing use.

I love mine as well and just yesterday, mine bit the dust after three years. I immediately placed an order for a new one and went with the max again. Just a quick tip, I use disposable hair nets in my skimmer basket and when I get ready to clean, I empty the solids out of the hair net and use it inside the filter bag of my pool blaster max. It cuts down tremendously on cleaning the filter bag.

weighing my options, likely will just buy another one, but I will get the 4-year extended warranty from Amazon this time around.

If it can last 4+ years with that warranty protection in place, I'll be happier about having to buy another one.

Ya great idea on the hair net in the blaster bag. Those are so difficult to clean perfectly some times, especially
when it pics up the occasional blob of tree sap.
