I've had my Polaris 380 for about 20 years now and replaced the original booster pump after about 10 years. The current one seems to be on it's last leg, as it's shutting off after about 30 minutes, so I'm assuming the motor windings are worn out. Should I (or would you) spend the $450+ installation (if I don't just do it myself like last time) to replace, or is it time to upgrade the technology and move to a robotic cleaner? I don't want to spend a ton though, as we'll probably be moving next year sometime. It's a 36' long in-ground pool with approx 35 degree slope from shallow to deep end.

I would just install a new booster pump. I think you will find it is the least expensive and easiest.

Most people on this site prefer robots. I like the Polaris pressure side cleaners. Yoy don't need the Polaris pump, there are less expensive 3/4 HP pumps available out there.

Same happened to us, Polaris 280 went to greener pastures, as well as the pump. We went to a robot cleaner / cordless (really did not want to deal with cords and storage) and have not looked back yet. The Polaris Freedom is what we went with and it has been doing a really good job for us. Easy to store on its dock, easy to get in/out of pool and clean.
