Polaris ALPHA iQ+ HELP

Hello,

I just received my replacement robotic cleaner from Polaris. My old one (VRX iQ+) was a year old and after 7 months after purchase it got the ERR10 code. After back and forth with replacing the motor and cable, my old unit has same error code.

So Polaris sent me a whole new unit and to send the old one back. They sent me the Alpha iQ+ since they didn't have my model in stock.

As soon as I set it up, it runs for about half hour and gives me the same err10 code as old one. I tried 3 different outdoor gfi plugs going to fuse panel, no extension cords, with the same issue. I am not sure what to do next and just give up on Polaris.

I believe my pool equipment is on the same wire that powers the pump and pool stuff as well as 2 of the 3 outlets I used. The only other outlet I have is in garage and with extension cord it wont reach to pool and clean it.

the pool pump was on so I am wondering if my pool equipment is on that it may being doing something to cause an error in the robot cleaner. I will have to try later when the pool is not running.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

OK, good! I would start back to square one on troubleshooting. Runs around a bit and then gets bad comm code. The comm pin being moveable in the swivel, I would duct tape the swivel to one fixed position where it's all working. The swivel is not known to be the best of designs, two bad these days not unheard of, and that would maybe help you determine whether the cable is or is not the culprit first.

I read many places online when the old one had an issue that if its on extension cord it will give it electrical issues. But the outlets I use are all direct to the fuse panel. Very disappointed and may have to look for a new brand.

With analyzing a failure, it's very easy to allow an assumption to enter the troubleshoot. Where I posted above, advising that you duct tape the swivel where it can't turn, and see what happens. I know that the assumption is that two cables/swivels, maybe 3, can't all be issue, but that's an assumption and they can. Whole fleets of vehicles can have a same issue. I just find it suspect that you get the comm error after running a bit. Wild hunch is that comm pin loses contact in the swivel at some point, twist, or turn.

So I duct taped that swivel and this cleaner gives me the ERR10 within 2 minutes of me starting it. It will actually starting moving and cleaning and then boom, ERR10. I am so upset, 2 units do the exact same thing.

I think you might have reached the end of what can be done on your end of the exchange. I bought mine from Leslies because they are just a few miles from me and will either take in for repair or exchange at store. They should honor yours as a dealer, so the next step would seem to either try to get a refund from where you bought and move on to another brand, or, go to nearest dealer like Leslies and stand at the counter till they exchange it.

Yea I was afraid of that. The one I bought almost 2 years ago and the brand new replacement they sent have same error. I bought first from leslies as well and the replacement was sent straight from Polaris. My last resort is to try and take to someone else's pool and try it, lol. I am trying everything a I can think of.

If I can figure it out or try a different pool I will update here.

Thank you very much for all your help.
