Plumbing UV and Heater

Hi All,

I have a questions regarding where to plumb in a UV device (paramount uv2). The manufacturer's instructions state that it should installed after the filter but before any heater. Our installer plumbed it after the heater directly and told me "it's fine, that's how we do all of them".

Maybe I'm a caveman, but why would you do it the opposite? Is this an issue for the UV.

The pool is outdoors (inground), the equipment is in a shack with the heater sitting outside the shack (piped through wall).

Its usually best before the heater as the hotter water from a heater is not recommended from the manufacturer and may shorten the life. However, I have seen it done both ways and never heard of an issue.

The pool is outdoors (inground), the equipment is in a shack with the heater sitting outside the shack (piped through wall).

There is no reason for a UV system in an outdoor pool. The sun gives you more than enough UV.

In addition the UV system will consume your chlorine, so watch your FC level.

Your post does not address the question posed and is wrong.

The bottom of that post says it's a cost issue, also you don't know my shade levels... regardless sounds like a cult mentality.
