Good morning.

Can anyone tell me what this thing is, why this thing is used, and more importantly, how do I stop it leaking?

Thanks. Image attached.

Thanks for the replies. I've got two of them, and then a screw with putty in between.

Injection ports make sense.

Both of the ones pictured are threaded, so I think the caps belong.

That bottom one sits so close to the concrete that I think I'm stuck with it. I'll see if I can just plug the nipple with some jb weld, unless I can find a compression that can close off the hole drilled through the coupling.

You can thread the hole in the coupling and screw a plug in it to seal it off permanently.

I worry that the wall is thin. I read something on Terry Love's website about taking a slip coupling, cutting in half, below the ridge. Then cut length wise, but not in half, to form a C.

Then prime and glue pipe and C and snap on.

I think I'm going to try that.

The other alternative is those Magicmend couplings. Never used one though, so that's the last option.

The entire plumbing needs to be re-done. It's a mess.

I would do the C patch. You should clamp the C in place and let dry for 12 hours before pressurizing.

If you put a C on the back side (with no glue) that will keep the clamps more round for better fit.

Looks like the port is mounted in a coupling so you may have trouble finding a piece to go over it.
