I realize states and counties have different regulations for draining pools, but is there a standard plumbing for pool builders? I'm asking because I need to drain my pool, but I don't believe it's tied into our sewer system, which I believe my county requires. The only outlet I know of runs to an underground pipe that terminates at my curb into the gutter which flows into the storm drain. This is what I use to backwash, I've never drained or replaced all of my pool water. I can't imagine running 24,000 gallons down the gutter.

It has been done if your town does not prohibit it.

A large storm sends more water than that down the sewer system.

If so, backwashing usually counts as draining. The codes very well may have changed since yours was installed but you probably would have been turned in by now. Karens LOVE to Karen.

Because it's pool water? If 12 of you backwash 2000 gallons each, whats the difference ?

Theres also so much organic material down the storm drains the FC won't make it the first 1000 ft.

You'd be better off getting a submersible pump and running a hose to your home's sewer cleanout. The storm drains don't necessarily run to the sewer. Where I live, they go to local streams. My county requires pools be drained to the actual sewer.
