Plugging drain plug in pool to reduce biofilm in drain hose? Thoughts?

Curious if you think biofilm builds up in the drain tube for hot tubs because there is no water movement in them during flushes?

Thinking about using "Flex Seal" paste or tape to cover the drain at the bottom of the tub on my next drain. Do you think that product would be safe for the tub. The manufacturer claims it is.

What are your thoughts about this? I don't use my drain because I use a water pump and then shop vac to get water out.

Dug,

I guess I don't see the point.. It should not matter what is in the drain hose, since it is only used for draining...

Maybe I just don't understand the problem...

Thanks,

Jim R.

I would think chlorine would diffuse just as evenly into the drain line as anywhere else. I believe I read here that chorine wants to get away from itself, so it rapidly diffuses in a body of water. If it really concerns you, maybe open the drain valve one a week to let some chlorinated water through.
